Candidates must have a master’s degree in Food Science and Technology.
Other candidates must have completed course work in any three (3) out of
the under-listed areas at the Masters’ levels.
 Food Chemistry or related courses
 Food Microbiology or related courses
 Food Processing/Technology/Engineering or related courses
 Food Product Development/Sensory Science or related courses
Candidates with the under-listed degrees are eligible to apply provided they
are willing to satisfy the prerequisite courses while on the PhD programme.
 MSc/MPhil Food Quality Management or its equivalent
 MSc/MPhil Chemistry or its equivalent
 MSc/MPhil Food Microbiology or its equivalent
 MSc/MPhil Biochemistry or its equivalent
 MSc/MPhil Agricultural Science or its equivalent
Admission shall be based on application with relevant qualification,
research proposal, performance at a selection interview and acceptance of
prerequisite courses where recommendations have been made.
