Programme Overview
Domestic Requirements
SSSCE Candidates

• Credit passes (A-D) in six subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies, plus

• Credit passes in three (3) relevant elective subjects (i.e. Economics, Geography, Government, History, Literature in English and Religious Studies).

B. WASSCE Candidates

• Credit passes (A1–C6) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies, plus

• Credit passes in three (3) relevant elective subjects (i.e.

• History Economics, Geography, Government and Religious Studies).

A. General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level Candidates

• Credit passes in three (3) relevant subjects (at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better) i. e. Economics, Mathematics, Geography, Government, History, and Religious Studies.

• Also the applicant must have had credit passes (Grade 6) in five (5) GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English, Mathematics and a Science subject (for non-science students) and an arts subject for Science students.

B. Higher National Diploma (HND) Candidates

• Candidates must have graduated with good HND certificate (at least 2nd Class Lower Division).

• In addition, the applicant must have acquired a 2-year post-HND qualification working experience.

C. Special Departmental Requirements

• Applicants must have taken History or Government and obtained a grade of at least C4

• A pass of B3 (or its equivalent) or better in English will be an advantage

D. Mature Candidates

• Applicants must be at least 25 years by September 1 of the academic year one wants to enrol.

• Applicants must also pass both the general UEW and Departmental Entrance Examinations.

E. Diploma Holders

• Applicants must possess a Higher National Diploma or its equivalence

• in a relevant subject from a recognized institution.

• The applicant must also pass an interview.

A. School Certificate/GCE ‘A’ Level Candidates

• Applicants must have five (5) credits at GCE ‘O’ Level including English Language and Mathematics as well as two (2) ‘A’ Level passes other than General Paper in History and one other social science subject.
