Programme Overview
Summary The Wisconsin International University College Bachelor of Science in Public Health Nursing programme is affiliated with the University for Development Studies. WIUC-Gh intends to train and to prepare nurses with holistic-evidence based knowledge, access to real-time nursing care and skill sets adequate to meet the healthcare demands in compliance with contemporary socio-cultural health system. Domestic Requirements
ELIGIBILITY
WASSCE & SSSCE:
The School will admit students with West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSCE) with at least credits in six courses (C6) in English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science and three (3) elective subjects in Science, General Arts or Home Economics subjects with an overall aggregate of 36 or better. Preference will be given to students with Science electives. Senior Secondary School applicants will enter the programme at level 100. As part of the NMCs requirement for students to be enrolled on the programme, all students must have credit (A1-C6) in integrated science for admission into the program.

Mature Students
Mature applicants include:

Diploma Holders
Holders of a Diploma in Community Nursing from recognized institutions with a minimum GPA of 2.50 and a pass in the licensure examination conducted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana will be admitted to level 300. There will also be a selection examination and interview.

Holders of Registered Nurse Assistants (Preventive) – RNAP and Certificate Community Health Nursing
Registered Nurse Assistants (Preventive) and Certificate Community Health Nursing will enter at Level 200 after a 6-week access course. Certificate Community Health Nurses and Nurse Assistant Preventive certificates from the Nurses and Midwifery Council of Ghana will be verified by the Council before students would be admitted into the programme. Prospective access students would be required to go through a selection interview session before they would be recruited into the programme. Holders of Registered Health Assistant Clinical (NAC/HAC) certificate Registered HAC/NAC holders will enter the BSc Public Health programme at level 100 after passing a six week access programme.

Other Mature Candidates
Professional nurses with Diploma in Nursing Education/Administration with a minimum of B+ average will enter at level 200. These professional nurses include midwives and registered mental health nurses
State Registered Nurses (enter the programme in the second year)
Others:
Foreign students must have result slips translated into English. The results must meet the set standards for the programme. In addition, applicants must be able to speak and write fluently in English. As part of the NMC’s requirements for nurses, foreign students must have the WASSE/SSSCE equivalent for admission into the programme.

Duration of Study Programmes:
The minimum period for completion of the Bachelor’s degrees shall be 8 semesters and the maximum period shall be 11 semesters for those entering at level 100. Students who would enter at level 200 hundred would use a minimum of 6 semesters and a maximum of 9 semesters to complete the Bachelor’s degree in public Health Nursing. Finally, students who would enter the programme at level 300 shall spend a minimum of 4 semesters and a maximum of 7 semesters to complete the programme.
