its equivalent. Candidates must have a good Master of Philosophy in
Pure/Applied Mathematics or its equivalent and other relevant disciplines,
with an average of at least 65% CWA and must submit academic transcripts.
Candidates from non-Anglophone countries must have an internationally
recognized Certificate of Proficiency in the English Language (TOEFL or
British Council, IELTS) with an above-average score. Otherwise, they will undertake a three-month intensive English training and must submit three
favorable references, one of whom may preferably be the supervisor at the
master’s level. In addition, candidates must demonstrate adequate
intellectual capacity, maturity, and effective decision-making, problemsolving potential and should be socially competent. Candidates must submit
both soft and hard copies of the research pre-proposal (about 6 – 8 pages
double space), which will be fine-tuned under the guidance of their
supervisors if admitted. Candidates must show evidence of current and
previous employment. Full-time availability after admission for a period of
at least three years. Candidates must attend and pass an interview that will
be conducted by an admission committee set up by the Department of
Mathematics KNUST.
