Programme Overview
The Department of Arabic Language Education aims to produce highly qualified teachers of Arabic Language and Literature for the Basic Schools [Junior/Senior High Schools] by equipping students with the content and methodology for teaching Arabic Language and Literature with focus on development of professional skills and techniques and emphasis on the acquisition of competencies in Arabic Language skills such as writing, reading, comprehension and speaking Arabic fluently.
Domestic Requirements
A. GCE: Ordinary and Advanced Levels
Applicants must possess credits (or better) passes in, at least, 5 subjects at the Ordinary Level. Candidates must also have three passes at the Advanced Level, one of them should, at least, be at grade D.
A pass in General Paper at the Advanced Level shall be required.

B. Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE)
Applicants must possess passes (at least D) in the following core courses English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies and three elective subjects with an aggregate of 24 or better.

C. West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE)
Applicants must possess credits (at least C6) in the following core subjects English, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies; and three elective subjects with an aggregate of 36 or better.
Note: GCE ‘A’ LEVEL/WASSCE/SSCE holders without Arabic language shall produce an advanced certificate in Arabic language from a recognized institution certified by the GTEC.

D. Mature Applicants:
Applicants must be 25 years or more by 1st August of the year of application, and must pass the University Entrance Exams in subject area test in Arabic language and general aptitude test. They must also produce a birth certificate.

E. Transfer Students
A student may be permitted admitted at LUCG on transfer from other university institutions under the following conditions:
i. Transfer cannot be effected beyond entry into Level 200.
ii. Transfer course credits must agree with those already covered at LUCG in the previous semester (s)
International Requirements
Foreign Applicants
Foreign students with qualifications equivalent to those in (a), (b) and (c) above may be considered for admission. They must, however, show evidence of proficiency in English Language.
