Programme Overview
A “Medicine Counter Assistant” is a person who has completed the prescribed training and is equipped to assist other members of the pharmaceutical care team in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to patients by performing various duties by the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act 2013 (ACT 857) and any other regulations prescribed by the Pharmacy Council.
Build a trusted group of qualified auxiliary pharmacy personnel to provide competent, acceptable, and ethical medication handling methods. To formalize the career of Medicine Counter Assistants and make them recognized members of the health care team.
Standard Entry Requirements:
Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE)
West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
Healthcare Certificate 1 (NVTI)
GCE 'O' Level Certificate
Alternative Entry Route:
Middle School Leaving Certificate (MSLC)
Minimum age of 25 years
Minimum three years work experience in a pharmacy
Demonstrated ability to read and write
May be required to attend selection interview
