Programme Overview
Domestic Requirements
Students under this programme are initially enrolled in the Master of
Science stage of the programme, with a duration of twelve (12) calendar
months, ran in three (3) sessions of four (months) each. A successful
completion of this stage, with passes in all taught courses and submission of
a short dissertation will lead to the award of a Master of Science degree in
Development Planning and Management. Those who obtain CWA of 70%
or more at the end of the first year, may progress as MPhil Development
Planning and Management candidates for the second year, of another twelve
(12) calendar months. Such candidates would spend the academic year
writing their theses and will be expected to complete the programme by the
end of the second year.
The programme targets young and mid-career professionals specializing or
seeking to specialize in Transportation Planning. Graduates of the
Programme will fit in the Transportation Departments of the Metropolitan,
Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs); Transportation Ministries;
Private Transport Operator Organizations; Civil Engineering,
Transportation Planning and Urban Planning Firms; and Academic and
Research Institutions in Ghana and in Africa. Applicants must have with a
bachelor’s degree in the Second-Class Division and above or its equivalent
in the following programmes from recognized institutions are encouraged
to apply: Planning, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics,
Geography, Architecture, Building Technology, Construction
Management, Development Studies and any field of specialization
relevant to the programme from a recognized University.
Candidates with B-Tech with at least 2 years’ working experience in the
relevant disciplines may be admitted after passing an interview.Applicants with post-graduation experience in industry or research may
have an added advantage. All applicants must pass selection interviews
before gaining admission. Students enrolled in the MSc Transportation
Planning programme are required to pay WEEKEND fee approved by the
University.
