Programme Overview
The aims of the Paralegal programme is to provide quality legal training that will equip graduates with sound mental, emotional and psychological balance to fit into the public and private sectors of the economy. create the rare and right blend of legal competences and management skills that will equip individuals with the ability to operate in the public and private sectors and legal practice in general. broaden and widen the options available to students at the University. contribute to national development by making up for the shortfall in the production of paralegals for all sectors of the economy. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME The objectives of the Paralegal Programme is to prepare students for positions as paralegals as a means of improving the accessibility, quality and affordability of legal services. It would also train persons to serve in all fields of law and to instill professional preparedness and ethical commitment in the legal practice to persons serving at the Paralegal level.
Domestic Requirements
a) First Degree Applicants:

An applicant who holds a first Degree (in any discipline) may be admitted into the Paralegal Studies programme. An applicant with a first degree or its equivalent with relevant professional experience may also be admitted into the programme.

b) HND/Diploma Applicants:

Applicants holding HND/Diploma with Second Class (Lower Division) and above and who have credits at WASSCE/ SSSCE in Three (3) core subjects and Three (3) Electives or Five (5) credits at “O” Level (including English Language and Mathematics) will be considered for admission.

Such applicants if admitted will be required to do two University Wide courses.
International Requirements
Foreign applicants with a first Degree (in any discipline) may be admitted into the Paralegal Studies programme. Foreign applicants with HND/Diploma with Second Class (Lower Division) and above may also be considered. All foreign certificates are to be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission. Foreign applicants must be able to read and write in English and must have their results translated into English where applicable.
