Programme Overview
To produce students who will be well prepared to pursue a career in the challenging fields of accounting. The programme allows students to acquire, develop and apply advanced-level knowledge, understanding and skills within accounting. Upon completion of the programme, graduates should be able to make significant contributions in the area of accounting and develop a successful and satisfying career, both in the private and public sectors.
Domestic Requirements
Applicants should possess a good first degree in accounting with a minimum of Second Class Lower division from a recognized University. Third Class applicants with a good quantitative background may also be considered for admission.
Applicants with professional qualifications, e.g. ACCA, CIM, CIMA, CA, can also apply.
All applicants must demonstrate/have a satisfactory existing level of knowledge in accounting.
Applicants must satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the faculty/department. These may include an interview, undertaking a preparatory programme, and a written entrance examination.
Students’ graduation:
Students must pass all the university-required courses and must fulfil all financial obligations.
Students must have an FCGPA of 2.5 and above to be eligible for graduation.
The Master of Science in Accounting programme shall consist of a minimum of five 3-credit courses per semester. Total credits shall not be less than 30 credits in the academic year. In addition, the student is required to present a dissertation to qualify for graduation.
