Aim
The aims of the program are to:
provide a highly flexible entry into management within the healthcare and health services delivery sector for graduates from all
produce skilled executives in health services management and leadership endowed with a wide range of knowledge and skills considered necessary to address current problems of ethical leadership in the management of healthcare services.
provide a transition for graduates from diverse backgrounds to acquire higher academic and professional qualifications in health services management.
Objectives of the program
This program will provide a springboard for further academic and professional career advancement. The objectives of the program are to:
provide students with critical knowledge, attitude, and skills necessary to become successful healthcare services delivery professionals and be able to provide ethical leadership to function efficiently at the managerial level within the healthcare sector,
equip students with critical and analytical thinking skills to be technically aware of issues regarding health services delivery and enrich their ability to analyze strategies and decisions made when developing healthcare units and their social policy,
endow students with leadership and managerial skills required to manage health services delivery organizations and function successfully in managerial positions within the healthcare sector.
inculcate into students, the requisite competencies in human resource management to deal with the complexities in the integration of people, systems, and technologies that characterize modern healthcare delivery organizations,
provide students with contuse learning opportunities to develop career progression as managers and leaders within healthcare and the opportunities for further education,
equip students with the requisite problem-solving skills for health professionals to solve current administrative and financial problems in designing, planning, and managing health services.
Domestic Requirements
Applicants should possess a first degree or equivalent from a recognized university with a minimum of second-class (lower division) in a relevant subject from a clinical, health, science, management, or social science background.
Applicants with a third class with a minimum of three years of working experience in any sector would be admitted after passing an entrance examination and an interview. Such applicants would be tested on critical writing skills.
Applicants with third class without working experience in the health services sector would be admitted if such applicants possess a post-graduate diploma in the relevant area.
