A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is a healthcare professional who uses sound-generating equipment (transducer) to identify and evaluate soft tissue structures in the human body for disease and pathology. With an expert faculty, we train students to perform imaging evaluations on patients in our B.Sc. Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. They utilize their medical knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pathology, and ultrasound physics to perform different operations. We equip our students with the following competencies in sonography through our B.Sc. Sonography program: Abdominal sonography Cardiac sonography Obstetrics/gynaecology sonography Understanding vascular ultrasound technology Our BSc. Sonography program is accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC). Upon completion of this four (4) year program, you shall be eligible to write the licensure exams by the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) of Ghana. Aim of our BSc. Diagnostic Medical Sonography Programme: The main goals of our Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography program are to: Make the students familiar with the basic principles of ultrasound and learn how to implement them practically according to the requirements. Teach students to generate ultrasound images using a proper technique and analyze them effectively to derive meaningful data from the reports. Enable the students to actively contribute to various healthcare facilities in Ghana and introduce their own business related to diagnostic medical sonography. Create a good foundation for learning with the help of basic concepts that make them capable of pursuing higher studies. Preparing professionals who have a learning attitude, allowing them to practice evidence-based medicine effectively.
